WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Expert management of cleft lip and/or palate, and other craniofacial anomalies requires a multi-disciplinary team. Patient outcomes continue to improve as new techniques and technologies are developed. Presurgical and surgi- cal management, and the roles of the geneticist, plastic reconstructive surgeon, speech pathologist, nurse practitioner, and orthodontist on the craniofacial team are highlighted in this one-day program.

Our speakers include:
Michael Cunningham, MD, PhD, presenting on cranio- synostosis from a clinical and research perspective, and reviewing new advances in gene discovery.

Sally Peterson-Falzone, PhD, discussing how to treat speech disorders with cleft lip and palate.

Janice Lee, DDS, MD, FACS, presenting orthognathic surgical advances.

Ophir Klein, MD, PhD, reviewing common genetic conditions including clefting and craniosynostosis syndromes.

William Hoffman, MD, presenting advances in reconstructive surgery for cleft care.

Our honoree, Karin Vargervik, DDS, Distinguished Professor Emerita, USCF, will provide perspectives on the role of the orthodontist in cleft care.
