In Spring 2010, Andrea Fraser was invited by Artforum to contribute to their special issue on museums and the public sphere. In response, Fraser sent in a short text that began with a survey of the extensive involvement of Museum of Modern Art trustees in the sub-prime crisis. The text was declined for publication by the magazine's editors but later evolved into her essay about the direct relationship between art-market trends and income distribution titled L'1%, C'est Moi, and published in Texte Zur Kunst in August 2011.

In this interactive lecture, Rob Reich presents his research about the role of philanthropy and the contemporary landscape of private gift-giving, with special reference to its place in the art world.

Reich is Professor of Political Science at Stanford, where he is the faculty director of the Center for Ethics in Society and co-director of the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society. Reich has written extensively about the relationship between philanthropy, justice, and democracy, and he is a board member of GiveWell.

This is the sixth event in our year-long season about and around the work of Andrea Fraser. http://bit.ly/1XhyHvM
