Talk begins at 7:15pm.
To mark the conclusion of our exhibition with Ellen Cantor, Lia Gangitano gives a talk synthesizing two essays published in 1999 and 2000 in TRANS< with a subsequent exhibition at Thread Waxing Space titled Mr. Fascination, which largely centered on Remember Me, a video currently on view at the Wattis.
The talk traces a relationship between Cantor and Gangitano that began with these initial collaborations and continues into the present through the archiving of Cantor's estate, the completion of her feature film Pinochet Porn, and an upcoming multi-site exhibition of Cantor's work in New York City in Fall 2016.
Lia Gangitano currently runs Ellen Cantor's estate and is the director of the not-for-profit space Participant Inc., New York, where Cantor presented her 2008 exhibition Within a Budding Grove. Gangitano has previously presented curatorial projects at ICA Boston, MoMA PS1, and is faculty at Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard.
