Vincent Katz, visiting from New York City, and Jane Gregory, from across the Bay in Berkeley, read from their work for The Poetry Center, to be followed by a conversation between the poets and with the audience.
Vincent Katz is the author of twelve books of poetry, including Swimming Home (Nightboat Books, 2015). He edited and wrote the introduction to Poems to Work On: The Collected Poems of Jim Dine (Cuneiform Press, 2015). Katz is the editor of Black Mountain College: Experiment in Art (MIT Press, 2002; reprinted 2013) and the author of The Complete Elegies of Sextus Propertius (Princeton University Press, 2004), winner of the 2005 National Translation Award from the American Literary Translators Association. He lives in New York City, where he curates Readings in Contemporary Poetry at Dia Art Foundation.
Jane Gregory is from Tucson and lives in the Bay. Her first book, My Enemies, was published by the Song Cave. Recent poems can be found in Company Journal, Critical Quarterly, the Denver Quarterly, Elderly, and OAR. She is currently pursuing a PhD at UC Berkeley. Last year she played the lead role in Alice Notley's play "Anne's White Glove," for the Alette in Oakland Symposium at the Omni Commons in Oakland.
