San Francisco State University Wind Ensemble

The San Francisco State University Wind Ensemble is one of the large instrumental ensembles within SFSU's School of Music and Dance. The ensemble is open by audition to all students (music majors and non-majors), faculty, staff, and community members. We rehearse Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00pm - 6:00pm, in CA 153.

The SFSU Wind Ensemble is comprised of approximately 60 musicians, both music majors and non-majors, as well as faculty, staff and community members. All of the ensemble members have demonstrated an outstanding level of musicianship and commitment. Graduates of the SFSU Wind Ensemble perform all across the globe, and hold teaching positions or leading positions in their respective major areas of concentration throughout the U.S.

SFSU Wind Ensemble performances feature new compositions for wind band in addition to works considered to be part of the core wind literature.
Membership in the SFSU Wind Ensemble is open to all students, faculty and staff as well as interested members of the community, and will be determined via audition during the first week of classes.

The Wind Ensemble at San Francisco State University has a very rich history: Dr. Edwin C. Kruth led the program to great heights for over 20 years, creating an active, determined, and rigorous music department at San Francisco State University. Other former conductors include Dr. Leroy Roach, Dr. Robert Busan, and Dr. Martin Seggelke.

Come join us for concerts, events, or even to play!
